OUR MESSAGE OF HOPE
On June 23, 2018 we received the news that every parent fears. Our six year old daughter Emma had a serious accident and was being rushed to the hospital. One week later we watched as Emma took her last breath on earth. From that moment, everything changed for our family. So what are you supposed to do when you are confronted with a loss that was not expected or when the outcome is not what was wanted? How do you go on with life when your heart has been shattered? It would not be hard to let our circumstances lead us to a life consumed with guilt, anger, bitterness, grief and despair. But thankfully, we did not go down that path. The only real way for us to start healing was to make every effort to do our best to lean on God and let Him give us the strength to move forward. And while the pain may never quite go away, we do recognize God gave us what our broken hearts needed most, and that was hope.
In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 29 verses 11-13, it reads “For I know the plans I have for you,“ declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. And I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.
We turned to God because we knew He would hear our call for help. We turned to God because we needed hope. The hope God gave allowed us to look forward knowing we still had a future and prevented us from constantly focusing on the past. So we share this about our family because it is part of our journey now but we also share our story because we want to encourage all of you to seek God in any situation and know that will find Him. He will give you the hope that you need in your life- the hope that you will be ok; the hope that your heart will be healed; the hope that your prayers will be heard; the hope that your circumstances will improve; the hope that your broken relationships will be restored; the hope that opportunity is coming; the hope that we will see one another again in heaven; the hope that a future is still possible. God will give you hope and He will light the path that will keep you looking forward. This is what God did for our family.
Our Emma is in heaven now, dancing with the angels. And we know that one day we will see each other again.
This is our message of hope we wanted to share with you.
Jesus Loves You.
